The Tiger JV laxers capped off their record season with an impressive, total team effort by defeating Hightstown 8-3 at home. Josh Hsieh (acknowledged by many to be the most dedicated laxer on either the JV or Varsity teams), Tom Cacciola (who wears the legendary lacrosse #22 deservedly), Dart Howell (working towards making the Russian national team for the Lacrosse World Games 4 years from now), Colin Hofer (Coach Miller, Colin and Graham Schaefer need new helmets next year!) and Javon Pannell (pound for pound the world’s toughest laxer) all contributed valuable minutes to the Tigers’ 13th win, 3 more than the previous single season record. Jack Persico got things going by clearing the ball downfield leading to a Jasper Morgan shot that put the Tigers ahead 1-0 with 4:24 left in the 1st quarter. The JV Tigers made it 3-0 in quick order with Dylan Johnston scoring 24 seconds later, and Johnston assisting Morgan 42 seconds after that. Perhaps the prettiest assist of the day was turned in by Nick Sandford who faked a shot that fooled everyone on the field and in the stands before tossing it to Morgan who made it 4-0 to wrap up the first half. Hightstown showed some life in the first minute of the second half when one of their long poles motored all the way downfield and got one in the Tiger net. Reclaiming the momentum for the Tigers, Sandford fired a low rocket to make it 5-1. Then Persico showed off his stick skills again clearing to Pierre Devlaminick who assisted Johnston’s second goal, 6-1. Matt Olentine buried his signature bounce shot at the end of the 3rd period to make it 7-1. Schaefer assisted Carl Torsilieri on his first goal of the season to finish up the Tiger scoring in the 4th quarter. With the result no longer in doubt, the visiting Rams scored two late goals to make it 8-3. Congratulations to all the Tiger JV players for their roles in the teams record season!
